Local Area...

Located within the Lake District National Park, only 2 miles from the Southern shores of Lake Windermere, our family run Park is set in 10 acres of beautiful woodland beneath a fell offering marvellous views of the Southern Fells and estuaries.

Whitestone is ideally situated as a base for easy access to the central Lake District and the Furness Peninsulas.  Fell-walking, rock climbing, mountain biking and a multitude of water sports are all within a short journey from the Park.

There are a multitude of small villages, all with their own special character; historic houses and gardens such as Holker Hall and Levens Hall; working museums at nearby Finsthwaite; and many other attractions for the visitor like the World of Beatrix Potter, the National Park Centre, and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway to enjoy.  The Lake Steamers sail daily through magnificent scenery from Lakeside to Bowness and Ambleside.

The small seaside resort of Grange-over-Sands is only 4½ miles to the South.  The beautiful village of Cartmel, with its ancient priory is three miles to the South.  The towns of Ulverston and Bowness are within 15 minutes drive of the Park, offering shopping, cinemas and indoor swimming pools.  Tennis courts and Bowling Greens are also available.

Eating out locally is a delight, with a host of Inns and restaurants close to the Park offering a wide selection of local specialities together with more traditional dishes.  Cumberland sausage and the famous Sticky Toffee Pudding from the Cartmel Village Shop are two delicacies which should both be sampled.  There are also a number of excellent farm shops selling meat and other local produce.

Surrounded by woodland with a steep fell behind, the Park forms a natural habitat for many forms of wildlife including squirrels, foxes, and Roe and Red deer.  Badgers have also been seen by the early risers...

Please feel free to pay us a visit and have a good look round the park.  If you should decide to come to Whitestone, we would be delighted to offer you every assistance in purchasing the holiday home of your choice.

Many things change over time, but Whitestone has been our small family business for over fifty years - with a warm welcome to all our visitors past, present and in the future.
